Prospecting in Sweden: a practical guide for sales teams
By the Leadsfinder team · · 2 min read
Prospecting is the work that decides whether the rest of the sales process even gets a chance. Yet it's often the least planned step: a scattered list, guesses about who's right to call, and too little follow-up. Here's a practical framework for how Swedish sales teams can prospect systematically.
1. Define your ideal customer profile
Before you touch a single contact: who is the customer you win most often, keep longest and earn most from? Describe them in terms you can filter on — industry, size, region, growth. A sharp ideal customer profile (ICP) makes the whole pipe smaller but keener.
2. Build segments, not one big list
Split the market into segments that match different parts of your profile. Segments let you tailor the message and measure what works. A broad mass send tells you nothing; three clear segments tell you where to spend the time.
- Start from the register so selection is driven by your ICP, not bought data.
- Name segments by hypothesis: 'manufacturers in Västra Götaland, 10–50 employees'.
- Save the segments so they refresh as new companies match.
3. Prioritise before you call
Not every account in a segment is equally ready. Rank by fit and timing, and start at the top. A little research per account — what they do, why they'd care — lifts the hit rate of the first call dramatically.
4. Reach out across channels
A single email rarely lands. A thought-through sequence alternating calls, SMS and email over a few weeks gives markedly better reply rates — as long as every contact is relevant and easy to decline. Keep the cadence human, not automated beyond recognition.
5. Measure and iterate
Track reply rate and booked meetings per segment and channel. Only when you see which segments respond does prospecting become an engine you can tune — double down on what works, drop what doesn't.
The point isn't more tools but one coherent flow: find the right companies, prioritise them, reach out and follow up — in one place. That's the workflow Leadsfinder is built for.
